It is my goal as a coach to provide a positive baseball experience to each young man who competes in a Warhawk uniform.
The Warhawk Baseball Mission Statement is "Play Warhawk Baseball, Play Together, and Play to Win." This mission statement has been put in to visual form which we call the Warhawk Baseball Doctrine (click on baseball to enlarge). The doctrine, or set of beliefs, is what will guide all involved in the Warhawk baseball program toward achieving team and individual goals.
What does it mean to play Warhawk Baseball?
A Warhawk Baseball player will always play hard. A Warhawk Baseball player will always give their best effort. A Warhawk Baseball player will always hustle. A Warhawk Baseball player will discipline themselves and encourage teammates to do the same. A Warhawk Baseball player will work to improve and perfect their skills. A Warhawk Baseball player is one who respects the game of baseball.
What does it mean to Play Together?
A team that plays together is a team that trust each other. Communication is vital. Players will be asked to accept their role and carry it out with pride. Playing together is succeeding with each other and believing in each other. A team that plays together always thinks "we, not me".
What does it mean to Play to Win?
Playing to win is not merely the actions on game day, it is the attitude, work ethic, and genuine enthusiasm each player brings to the diamond each day. A team that plays to win has a winning attitude, always. Playing to win is living your life to your potential, in all areas. A team and player that is playing to win will practice at game speed. Hustle is a habit; it is all they know. A team that plays to win prepares to win everyday and executes in all situations as they arise. A Warhawk baseball player will always compete and play like a champion.
How will we do it? Meeting goals is something easy to talk about, but often hard to do. Many times excuses can be made, shortcuts can be taken, or goals can just be forgotten when thing get tough. As a Warhawk baseball player we must hold each other accountable, always compete, and continually work to improve and perfect our skills.
Traits of a Warhawk Baseball player: Loyalty, Honesty, Desire, Patience, Enthusiasm, Resilience, Responsibility, Respect, Trust, Optimism, Sportsmanship, Integrity, Dignity, and Humility. A team who genuinely displays these traits has a great opportunity of achieving any worthwhile goal they may have on the diamond or in other areas of their life.
